Do you have to replace the smart magnets?

When replacing the screen do i have to move over the smart magnets as stated. Some comments are saying the steps are wrong or they need tape under? can i just leave these out?

Have to? Nope.

But you should--it is easy enough. They have nothing electrically to do with the smart cover. You don't need to tape the magnets. Most screens come with adhesive preinstalled just for the magnets. Stick em on and you're done.

The iPad was designed to leverage them to hold the cover on and to hold it closed. I would put them back in in the correct locations and direction (N-S).
