Laptop Screen shows Pink/Green Horizontal Lines at the bottom.

I have no idea how did this happen.

I left it on while I was sleeping and when I woke up in the morning, it already has these pink lines (when on white background) or green lines (when on black background).

My Macbook pro just did this problem this morning ,but after coming home from school I took the risk of slapping the back of the screen near where the little apple sign is and when I did the pink and green lines disappeared.

It may come back. I recommend you ask a new question https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/Ask

@Prime Noscope67 your solution worked for me

by

It's the indication that your system is corrupted

by

I don't believe your system is corrupted. It's more than likely a loose wire joining the computer parts to the screen. I've seen it go away , temporarily, when the strip next to the side of the screen is pressed. But for a more permanent fix you may need to dismantle the plastic round the screen to get at the loose connection.

Aju krishna, could be the LCD panel or the GPU. Connect an external monitor. If that show a good picture you know it is most likely your LCD panel that needs replacing. If the external monitor is showing the same issues, you have having problems with the GPU on the logic board and will have to at least disassemble your laptop to inspect. Hope this helps, good luck.

place your thumbs on the top corners of the screen and your fingers on the laptop cover. Gradually apply pressure with your thumbs until the colour is correct. This happens to my laptop every summer.

"place your thumbs.......", I laughed when I read that but then I tried it. It didn't work with thumbs at top of screen but then I made my way down the sides of the screen and when I got to the top of the pink area and pressed with my thumbs the screen magically returned to normal. So I conclude that a lot of these problems are definitely caused by loose connector cables between the laptop and the LCD screen.

by

dude it worked you saved my life i love you (no homo)

by

OMG.. even I laughed at this solution but it worked ... Thank you so much..

by

Can somebody show how to do it via some video and provide the link here

by

Thank you!! The line was still present after I pressed on it but after a few secs it returned to normal.

It's the connector cable from the laptop to the LCD screen that isn't connected properly.

If you take the screen surround off and then reconnect the screen cable and make sure it is fastened secure, this will get rid of the pink and/or green lines.

This has occurred with my laptop too...for 2 consecutive years; however, since I live in a part of the world where seasons change dramatically from exceedingly hot summers to exceedingly cold winters, I noticed that the morning pink and green lines only appear in the winter when temperatures go down to sub freezing. So, simple remedy: I now wrap my laptop in a blanket, or put it in an insulated bag before I go to bed, then, abracadabra, when I open it up in the morning, there are no green/pink horizontal lines!!!

This is due to several problems :-

  1. Operating System (Drivers)
  2. Hardware Problem.

To clarify just boot into BIOS of your laptop and see is lines still present ?

If lines disappear than your graphics drivers fault or that chip is damage.

If lines still shown in BIOS than your screen got damage. Just replace it.

Waw... this actually worked! Thank you, so much. I tried everything and this is the only thing that made a difference. I recently upgraded from Win 10 to Win 11 on my HP laptop and left laptop on longer than usual after falling asleep and woke up to find pink and green lines just like the other users along with an annoying flickering screen. This is a real fix. I totally recommend using this.

This happens with my laptop sometimes, when it was happening again just now I tried pressing fn + f7 twice which on my laptop normally turns the screen off and then back on, and it stopped.

Weird enough this got fixed when I turned on the night light. I thought night light filters the pink and green light and somehow make them unnoticeable. But that turned out be not the case. Even after turning off the night light, the fix remains intact until I restart the laptop.

This may help you in solving my problem. Try using a different monitor if that will be OK then it's the problem with your display if it shows any problem then there maybe any software issue or any other hardware problem.
