Is it worth upgrading my hard drive on late 2009 iMac?

Would it be worth it to upgrade my hard drive on my 21.5 inch late 2009 IMAC 3.06 GHZ Core 2 Duo processor? It is full and I want to make sure the old computer can keep up with new technology.

This system still has some life in it if that is all thats needed.

While it won't be a speed demon, compared to the newest systems, it still can be upgraded with a better performing storage and offer a few more years of use.

I do strongly recommend upgrading the HD to a SSHD (hybrid drive). Seagate makes a good one that will work in your system. I would also recommend upgrading the RAM while you're at it. Upping it to at least 8GB (max 16GB).

You do want to make sure the firmware is the latest before you do anything first. Review this Apple TN: EFI and SMC firmware updates for Intel-based Macs.
