Hi there,

Turning on your PC, only to be greeted with the words BOOTMGR is missing, is a panic-inducing experience. The BOOTMGR is a program that runs when you start your PC, and loads your operating system from the hard drive. When it is missing, Windows is unable to boot. Even advanced users have many questions when this error turns up. Is my computer dying? Is my hard drive failing? Is my data safe? There are a number of reasons this error could occur — everything from a loose hard drive cable, to a bad OS upgrade, or even the occasional fluke.

It can be caused by many things, make sure you have no CDs or DVDS, USB drives or any external storage drives plugged in. your computer may be trying to boot from one of them.

Try changing the boot order locate in the BIOS, if you have Windows 7 installed on it insert a Windows 7 DVD, boot it click install and after setting the Date/Time, Keyboard layout, etc. Click on theRepair your computer button located in bottom left of the screen and then choose Startup Repair.

Or try opening command prompt in the Repair your computer window and insert the "-bootrec /fixboot" command.
