LVDS Cable Replacement - tried to repair now stuck!
Have attempted a repair following the guide on this site that someone posted in answer to the exact same question; however I didn't read the complete guide before starting and I now realise that the guide is actually only half complete - so I am stuck with no idea what to do next.
My story is a bit of a train wreck; poor battery performance meant I tried to replace my existing battery but I had a stripped screw (the one right over the LVDS cable!) and despite trying every tool possible inclusing drilling it out, I ended up having to twist the bottom case off to get access to the battery.
However on putting it all back together the screen is totally black - I can use it with a display cable to my TV but the laptop screen is just not showing anythimg.
Due to the location of the LVDS cable and the screw I am 100% this is the problem; having ordreed a new one and compared the two it seems to be missing a 'tooth' so that's more reassuring.
However I followed the guide here: MacBook Pro 13" Unibody Early 2011 Display Replacement
Assuming at the end I could just pull the cable out but it looks like I have to remove the glass and the LCD but I cannot find instructions for my model.
There is a video on youtube but the guy is speaking german so I am not too confident in following that in case he is saying important stuff!
Any help much appreciated!
Is this a good question?
