iPhone 4S missing capacitors

Hello,

A customer came to me with his iPhone not turning on anymore after a attempted wiFi chip reflow.

After removing the wiFi chip I noticed there are also alot of capacitors missing and the place where the chip sits looks damaged.

I looked at the schematics to find out what components I need to buy and I found them, but I have the problem with shipping fees to the Netherlands being above 30 bucks :/

Hey spacecow123,

w

Why dont you get on ebay and buy a scrap one then you have correct caps and some spares left over for other jobs.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Apple-iPhone-4...

This will give you a rough idea of price, i do this quite often and always use all the other parts left over.

Picked one up last week for £27 inc postage.

When a Bad Butcher has killed a pig you dont see anyone stitching it back together to see if it will still squeek and it looks like butcher been a callin already brother.

Yeah that's actuay a great idea.

It costs just as much as buying those capacitors online, but then I'm sure it's the right capacitor, and I'm having spare parts left haha.

Can also use that iPhones wifi chip then I guess ^^

That's a question for your customer, I'd say.

I'm sure you'd be able to do the work but it's always a question on wheather or not your customer thinks it's worth it.

My opinion, however, is once you get down to the motherboard component level you can't garrenty that it will last longer than it lasts. One week or one year, that repair will lasts as long as it lasts. Your customer must understand that before you proseed if you don't want any ill ramifications.
