Could I need a new wifi antenna?

When I'm in front of my router my iPhone 5 has full wifi signal and works perfectly. When I move about 3-4 meters away, signal is still very good but I cannot access internet or anything involving a internet connection. Everything just freezes until I get close to the router again. I'm very curious could it be the iPhone's wifi antenna.

I've restored iPhone, reset network settings, rebooted router but the problem is still there.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Did you get your phone wet? It sounds like you may have a corrosion problem on the logic boards antenna connection.

Hi, no never got wet. Unless humidity somehow got in there, if it's the logic board having corrosion is there a fix for that?

Hi my320ci

While its possible you need a WiFi antenna, its also possible its more then just the antenna. The antennas on these device actually very rarely have issues unless they are damaged.

Is the top back glass on your iPhone damaged? This is were the WiFi antenna sits. If that glass is damaged its possible so is the antenna.

I would install a new antenna and see if it fixes your issue. While installing a new antenna look for signs of corrosion and other possible damage.

If you drop your iPhone often its also possible you have damaged the motherboard (WiFi IC), which at that point, its cheaper to get another iPhone and transfer your data.

hope this helps.
