Where is the fuel filter for gas line on a 4x4?

When i start truck (2001 CHEVY S10 4.3L) some times its hard to start, when it dose it runs rough but clears up. As you are driving some times it stalls or at stop light it will stall.It takes a while to start but dose. I got fuel the night before and had problems ever since, put fuel injector cleaner in it plus menthal hydrate thinking it may be its water but still dose it. Would any one have a solution for this?

Walter Davis, the fuel filter is located along the right inner side frame rail.

It would help to know what model year and manufacturer, when you ask a question like this.

A lot of late model cars and trucks, going back to 2003 or so, do not have a serviceable fuel filter. The strainer in the fuel tank is all there is. The real problem with getting water in the fuel is the water is never clean. You also get a lot of rust and dirt along with it. If this is the problem, the only solution is to clean the tank and start over.
