No memory card error message on Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W690?

This camera was purchased as a 2012 Christmas present for my son in late 2011. It has hardly been used. He is going abroad early next week for a few weeks and wanted to take camera with him. However, it is giving the message "No Memory Card". There are only about 25 images (total taken so far) on the memory card. Have purchased a new 32GB Class 10 card, but still get this message. Have had to purchase a cheap Cybershot for his trip, but it is nowhere near the spec of W-690. Is camera repairable?

Details of the camera make and model may help find your problem. That being said the cause is probably one of two things, the 32GB SD card is too big, try a smaller card and see what happens. Also as odd as it sounds, some devices (phones, cameras, tablets) do not like certain brands of SD cards. Also SD cards have a switch on the side, make sure it's in the "Unlocked" position.

The best thing to do is go to the manufacturers website and check their specifications on SD card compatibility. But sometimes a Google search of the cameras make and model SD card compatibility can usually answer the question from owners of the same product.

I hope this helps!
