Digitizer is lifting after screen replacement

I replaced the screen (LCD/digitizer) on a iPhone 5s and everything seemed great until I noticed that the glass is lifting off of the LCD. It sticks up a few mm more than normal and when titled you can see the brightness from the LCD through the cracks. This is obviously an issue considering dust, etc.

In an attempt to fix it I lifted the screen off again and noticed that the frame/bezel thing around the digitizer came loose. I popped in back into place and thought everything was good until I put it back in and now it is worse. I think I just loosened the adhesive even more by removing it a second time.

Now I know the adhesive is obviously loose but is this the result of a bent casing or just a lousy part. Also, I have some double sided adhesive tape that I am thinking of trying but I am not sure if that will work on this particular model and where I should place it.

Any help on how to fix a lifting digitizer would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi Brian,

Sounds like you got a lousy part. It happens.

When you say the glass is lifting off the LCD I'm going to assume you mean the glass is lifting off the plastic frame that goes around the screen. In that case. Remove the screen again and very sparingly use super glue to secure the plastic bezel back to the glass, ensuring it properly seats. Give it a few minutes to dry and reassemble and check results.

If possible send the part back and get a replacement, the plastic frames are usually welded on by machines, so doing it by hand is slightly tedious.

Good luck

Thanks Josh! I did not try the super glue but I did try some adhesive tape between sections of the plastic frame and plastic on the digitizer. Seemed to work but then I woke up the next day and it was lifting again.

I decided to return for a new part. Thanks again!!!
