Multi-touch Registering Multiple Touches with Single Touch

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7" SM-T210R that had a cracked digitizer. The touchscreen did not work initially so I replaced the digitizer. After replacing the digitizer, the touch screen now works somewhat.

The problem is with the bottom half of the digitizer. One finger touch is registered as two touches in certain areas. This was confirmed using a multi-touch tester app.

I tried doing a factory reset and also updated to KitKat 4.4.2, which did not help.

Another thing I noticed is that the LCD flickers when auto brightness is selected but works fine when brightness is selected manually.

This led me to believe that there could be some kind of physical/water damage. However, after inspecting the device, it seems to be in good physical condition.

After doing some research, I found out that the Nexus 7 has this issue also. Others had called this issue "Ghost touches" and was related to a grounding issue.

So do you all think it could be as simple as disconnecting, cleaning the contacts, and reconnecting. I could have possibly gotten some oils from my fingers on the contacts by accident. I'm not really sure.

Or is it a grounding problem, a bad part, or something else?

Thanks!!!

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Ended up being a faulty part. Replaced it with a broken digitizer that still worked that I had laying around and the touchscreen worked perfectly. Just need to order a new part and I will be good to go!
