2.0 ghz 2012 11" MBA, will a 2012 1.7 ghz board work?

I acquired a 2012 11" macbook air that has a bad logic board. The original board was the upgraded 2.0 ghz version, not the base 1.7. What I want to know is if I can put a 1.7ghz board in the computer and have it function normally.

Both boards are from the same model year (2012), my reason for wanting to use the 1.7 is because I just want to make this computer a cheap runner so that my parents can use it. The 2.0 logic board is far more expensive than the 1.7.

I've looked at high res shots of the 1.7 board and they are nearly identical to my dead 2.0 board under a magnifying glass. All the connectors seem to be identical and in the same places, the thing I am curious about is system compatibly. Anyone Know?

Yes boards from the same model and year swap. In fact the base board is the slower one each year and in most cases the faster board is just a "custom build" of certain parts (CPU or GPUs).

You can verify this by using the compatibility link top right of the logic board parts page.
