Can I swap the logic board with a similar or newer one?

I have a Macbook Unibody Aluminum 2008 that I would like to upgrade or swap out. Any chance of doing a swap/upgrade with another Macbook? Or am I stuck with this 2.4ghz Model?

p.s.I'm just looking for a cheaper alternative to spending 240 Dollars on another.

Also if possible and out of curiosity, where am I able to locate an appropriate schematic software for this and other models?

Any 08 board will fit and 2.4GHz is the faster one. Generally you can not cross model years as mounting holes and ports move around/ added or removed.

Maxing RAM may improve performance (if you have not yet done so). Apple officially supports a maximum of 4 GB of RAM. As confirmed by OWC, it is capable of supporting 8 GB of RAM if updated to Boot ROM Version MB51.007D.B03 and running MacOS X 10.6 "Snow Leopard" or higher.

Thank you, I was hoping that was the case. I might end up going with an 2.0ghz version as it's slightly cheaper. The existing motherboard doesn't charge and has some motherboard damage. The time and energy to repair it would cost me more frustration.
