iPhone 5 Battery Replacement. Purchased Genuine and wouldnt charge!

Hi Guys, So recently i purchased a Genuine iPhone 5 battery in an attempt to replace my dying one!

I fitted the battery and the phone booted no problem! Only issue is, the battery wouldnt charge, everything was in there snugly and fitted correctly. I then put my old battery in there and that works fine (Apart from issues with holding charge which is unrelated)

Ive replaced plenty of these before but never come across this problem.

Can anyone suggest why this would happen?

I know that with the 3GS, specific batteries had to be ordered with the correct model?

Is this the same case as the iPhone 5 or have i just got a dud?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

The old one could charge but the new one couldn't. There are two possible reasons: one is that you didn't do the replacement very well, try to re-install. The other one is that you got the wrong battery.

It is a dud, for sure. FYI: practically all of the batteries that you would come across from domestic (US) sources are either used batteries or aftermarket copy batteries.

You can try to re-install. If that doesn't work,it may because you got a battery which has quality problems.

Thanks for replies guys.

As I said I'm experienced with this so I'm confident that quality of installation is up to scratch.

I'll order another one and have a look!

I'm not even too bothered about it being aftermarket! Anything would be an improvement over the current battery!

I had an aftermarket one in my iPhone 4 and lasted around 3 years! I couldn't fault it.

I'll get another one ordered!

I am having the exact same problem with my new iFixIT battery.

Re-inserted the original Apple battery and the phone turns on and works fine again.

It is clear that iFixIT batteries are not as good quality as they would have you believe and there is definitaly minimal to no quality assurance or testing occurring.

Fairly disappointing for a supposedly reputable company that sells quite expensive parts...
