Phone turns on for 5 seconds only, battery? Can I recover data?

Hi

My beloved Samsung Galaxy S2 GT I9100 worked perfectly up until a week ago. I installed a very large app (game) on it, and ever since then it has started turning off very frequently, and will only stay on if plugged into a power outlet. I uninstalled the app, and many others, trying to fix it. But it continued to go downhill and now will only turn on for about 5 seconds or less when plugged into an outlet. Not even long enough to open 'settings' or do anything.

Do you think a new battery would fix it? If not, how do I recover my pictures from it?

Thank you.

Hi Bonnie, depending on what’s wrong with the phone will be the determining factor if a battery will fix it.

However a battery that has a full charge may work long enough for you to back up the info.

As far as the device shutting off randomly and not charging and only lasting 5 seconds unplugged, is probably due to a damaged charged port. If you have had the phone for almost 2 years then it is more the likely that, components like that have a short lives because of the exposure and use they are put through.

Hope this help

Thanks for your reply. I ordered a new battery so hopefully it will at least give me time to back up my pics, etc. Appreciate your help!
