Home button not working, though Touchid does work

My daughter dropped her iPhone 5s and cracked the screen. I had her order the front panel replacement part from ifixit.com and we repaired it together. Everything went well with my daughter doing most of the work (her fingers are more limber than mine).

We transfered the home button, front camera, ear speaker and light sensor from the broken panel to the new panel, reconnected the cables, ensured the correct screws were used. The phone powered up with no problem and the touch id recognized her fingerprint. However, she noticed that the home button was not responding to her clicks. Single clicks, double clicks or prolog click brought no response. So we disassembled and double checked everything according to the guide and reassembled.

Still no joy, the touch id works, but no home button which makes it difficult to hop out of her apps.

Pointers? Suggestions?

Thanks,

Patrick Mahan

The charge port powers the home button it's possible there could be a problem with it so I would try a new one first then see if home button works..

If it dosent then the button is damaged you can buy a new home button but you will lose Touch ID but clicker will work
