Motherboard Upgrade

Can I upgrade the 950 GMA motherboard in my Macbook Core 2 Duo with a x3100 GMA motherboard?

For context, the A1181 MacBooks had the following graphics configurations: Core Duo and Core 2 Duo had the Intel GMA 950 graphics processor. Santa Rosa and Penryn had the Intel GMA x3100 graphics processors. The Early and Mid 2009 versions have the GeForce 9400M.

Hello!

Unfortunately, Apple switched connectors on many of the internal parts between the machines with the 950 and the x3100. Most parts (inverter cable, fans, heat sink, bluetooth, speakers, PRAM) switched to what is called a JST connector (thin and black "3 wall") on the logic board, and your machine has the old-school white "4 wall" connectors.
