No SIM. Keep getting the No Sim messsage

I have tried many fixes, from switching from airplane mode to normal mode, putting tape on the back of the sim card, getting a new sim card, changing carrier, reinstalling OS, talking nicely, shouting abuse, but nothing makes it work. Is there a part I can replace? is it the sim contacts inside the ipad, is it the logic board, is it just me? Any help any one thank you.

Sam

A few questions.

Did you just get the iPad?

Have you always had the No SIM error, or is it a new occurrence?

I've had it a couple of years, it was second hand when I got it, the sim was working fine. 6 months ago the fault started on an intermittent basis, getting worse more recently which makes me think it is a hardware problem rather than soft or firmware issue. Many thanks for any help you can offer. Sam

I once sold a used iPhone 4 and the new owner got a strange "No SIM" message when going thru setup. This was very strange indeed, since it was a Verizon device and had NO Sim slot! Anyway, the new owner got it fixed by calling Apple Support and being referred to an engineer who killed the "bug". The process took a few days.
