still won't power on

so my ipod classic I guess had a shock test and wouldn't power on, basically when I was walking down a stairway it was in my pocket and I got shoved and the iPod took a hit on the rail.

it wouldn't power on even when I plug the charger into it, I figured it was the battery in some way shape or form. I bought the tool kit and battery from this website, replace the battery and plug it into the charger and still nothing happens...

could the screen be messed up, but then again I don't hear the hard drive kicking on and off either. It still is getting no power should i plug it in and leave it plugged in, maybe the battery needs to have a charge before I try to power it on?

keep in mind this is the first time I've ever done this before normally I just pay somebody to do it, lol
