Airport cannot connect/tells me that plug-ins are not available

There is something missing within the operating system and I would like to run A DIAGNOSTIC Program like they have at the Apple Genius Bar.

Can you tell me the name of the program and if it can be used with all Mac computers?

I have been to the Genius Bar several times, and the techie always brings out a diagnostic program that he has on a seperate hard drive, and connects it to my laptop, and checks out various components. And Inoticed that no mater which type of computer I bring in, they always use the same program.

I have 21 computers, and would like to find out what program those techies use so I can do my own research and diagnostics

Getting back to my problem, I need to reinstall the operating system but would like to test the complete system before doing so,

I was also told that I can reinstall the system with out losing any of my data.

Do I have to make a complete copy or backup of my hard drive?

Thanx in advance.Curt

Are these Airport Express AirTunes Plug-ins? I'm not aware of other Airport Plug-ins.

Chosen Solution

ALWAYS MAKE A BACKUP

it's only good sense.

You should never have only one copy of a file, and if it's important (something that would be a PITA to recreate e.g. a legal brief or a University thesis) you should have three, and not all in one place (room). If you had them all in one room and there was a fire, flood or someone stole your computer & external drives - we'll, there goes your only rescue.

Everybody "knows" this but most don't "remember" it until they have a disaster, and loose that important file with no backup! BTW you don't have to backup applications if you have their installers.

That said, it is possible to install an OS without losing data... barring unforeseen complications. Follow the installer directions (read and comprehend it's instructions before proceeding).

If this answer is acceptable please return and mark it.

Good Luck,

N.
