Screen has backlight, but stays black

Just did someone's retina glass replacement for ipad mini, and the screen stays black. I don't see anything going on. I can see the backlight works, but nothing else does. Home button seems to work, as well as the power button, the device appears to be on when I connect it to itunes, but all I see is the backlight on like so:

Screen with backlit on

and when the backlight is off:

Screen with backlight off

I've down many iphones, this is my first ipad mini, but it didn't seem that hard until I tried turning it on. Connectors all seem to be seated correctly.

What could be the issue?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

I left the device charging over night (when I started it was about 2%) woke up to the screen still bad. I'll take it apart again this afternoon and take pictures. Hopefully someone can help me!

I would look really closely at the area around the connectors from some pry damage to the board. The image generation circuit is separate from the backlight circuit. There are some data filters that can get knocked off and cause this to happen.

Any pictures you can refer to that could show me the image generation circuits? I've disassembled and reassembled three times.

I think the iPad mini 2 retina has some pics online somewhere for the backlight circuit. I don't have any pictures personally. Your best bet is to just look for the damage. This is something that will have visual damage--burn marks or missing components. That damage doesn't just happen by itself, so just look really closely around the connectors. If you post a picture of your connector area (pull off the sticker) I can tell you if I see anything unusual.

I dropped my iPad 2 on the floor and it was okay for a while then the screen went all sorts of colours and went fuzzy. i switched it off then back on again and it was fine then a few minutes later went fuzzy again. I looked online and saw people were saying to give it a firm tap on the back a few times so i tried that then the screen went black. i switched it off then back on and the backlight was on but the screen was still black not showing the apple sign or anything. I fear i might mess it up more if i take it apart. can anyone help?

I'm dealing with a similar situation. Screen had lots of lines and soon thereafter went completely white. I suppose that's the backlight. I've disassembled mine hoping to find a loose or damaged connector but haven't found anything. It was a challenging (read: time consuming and patience challenging) project. I'm hoping someone can say if this sounds like a bad LCD or something else. All I can say so far is good luck!
