I had the same problem. Before resorting to taking everything apart, try pressing the trip odometer reset button. I was curious to see if it would work. Apparently, changing the display from ODO to Trip ODO, reset the circuit. My display is working without replacing the resistors or taking my dash apart!

yeah but more commonly you will need to perform repair

Try pressing the ODO/Trip ODO button first. It resets the circuit. My light came back on as soon as I tried it. It will save you much time and headache!

just a couple of bad resistors, cost me $1 for a pack of 5, and you only have to replace 4 of them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=84FAjLxoK... that'll talk you through it

This happened in my car, the above links are true. There are some crappy resistors inside of the instrument panel, replace them and you are good to go!

Didnit continue to track miles while it was out? I may be buying a Buick that has this issue. The sticker on the window says oil change is due in a couple weeks or 89,000 miles. I’m curious if I fix it, if it will show 127k on the odometer meaning the guy had the sticker made up or if the sticker is legit, it will show the ~89k on the odometer.

Basically, my question is, if it burned out at 100 miles and you drove for 300 miles then fixed it, will it show 100 miles or the correct 400 Miles?

I know this comment is from 3 years ago, but it still tracks mile. Even if the display is out.

It will show the correct 400 miles. The failure only involves illumination, not function.
