no response when connected to computer or anything else

When I connect my ipod to the computer it does not make the sound that it recognizes that is it=s connected and the screen of the ipod just says charging please wait I can open I tunes and it does nothing I have left the ipod charging fir hours and nothing I tried to do a recovery to the ipod it comes up on the screen of the computer that I am doing a recover and then nothing please help?

Use the diagnostics mode on your iPod and see which errors you get.

Options

Try to connect the ipod with another cable, try to connect it to a main usb port not to a usb hub.
