Restore from Time Machine (external drive)

Received new HD 3TB Seagate; had it formated for mac and partitioned prior to installing. Cleaned inside this mac: heavy smoker. Loaded new HD, reassembled, booted, OXS 10 loaded, then Snow leporard, the basics.

Now confused: how to clone from time machine to new 3tb hard drive. Not paying for all new programs; word, office ect. which I already paid for . Just want to bring new hd to system already in time machine.

Chosen Solution

With the drive containing the TimeMachine backup connected, simply navigate to your Utilities Folder in Applications and look for Migration Assistant. Open that and it should automatically find the TimeMachine Backup and allow you to restore your data. Good Luck.
