Want to fix a C8FB2 8-1/2? Sliding Compound Miter Saw

Trying to troubleshoot and fix a nonworking C8FB2 8-1/2? Sliding Compound Miter Saw, the first tool of its kind, made in 1988 by Hitachi. It needs carbon brushes, but it won't turn on at all, and nothing seems wrong with the cord or the trigger. The owner's manual and parts list are no help. A lot of the parts are obsolete. I'm at a loss and ready to chuck the thing, but I'd love to fix it or find someone who can.

Answer this question I have this problem too
