Okay, here's the thing. I've been using my iPhone 5 for quite a while when it started losing network reception. Suddenly it started to drop reception and goes "Searching".
But doesn't show No service text.
If i turn of and on airplane mode for a few times it comes back and my carrier works just fine for an hour or a little less.
Is this a good question?

No conclusion can be given from your description. Maybe the carrier is upgrading their network or you are in an area with poor coverage.
Compare with another iPhone 5 in the same area and same network, if the problem persists, swap the SIM cards to rule out problems with your number. If it does seem that the problem is with the phone, try to remove all accessories or update to the latest software version.

As you said "the problem is with the phone". It is but do you know what is it?
Anything can happen. So it will be a lot more complex.
