Xbox 360 HDMI image has green tint and no sound, Composite is ok

I gave my Xbox 360 Arcade to a friend. Once I got it back and turned it on, the image was green and there was no sound via the HDMI cable, which I used before with success.

The same HDMI cable works OK with my notebook.

I connected the Xbox 360 to the TV via composite (1 RCA for video and 2 for sound) and it works ok.

What has happened with my Xbox 360 and how can I fix it? I already ordered a Component cable (5xRCA) which connects to the same proprietary connector the Composite does and hope it will also work flawlessly and in HD.

Thanks!

I fixed my problem with a Xbox 360-Composite HD cable. I ordered it for $10 from dealextreme, but it looks to be original - with the Microsoft holographic sticker on it.

Unfortunately, no sound is coming through the optical port. That is sad, as I have a hi-fi surround system. I hope I hope it is a problem of settings and that I will be able to "fix" it.

Do check the settings on your Xbox. Green screen is indicative of YUV color space being output when typically it wants to send RGB. Check the settings to see if you can force the output to RGB. No audio does make it sound, no pun, like it could be a different problem. Your Xbox may be reading the display's EDID incorrectly and therefore configuring for YUV output and no audio.
