u2 ic repairs in us?

Hello everyone!! I read all the time, but never posted anything here. I usually never have to, because the answers are usually already handled :)

I am looking for a repair facility in the US that can help with U2 IC repairs on an Iphone 5. I contacted Jessabethany and they do not currently do the repair.

I was hoping someone out there had good luck with this problem.

Anyways,,, any help is greatly appreciated!!! I would really like to turn this paperweight back into a usable device.

Thank you

Willi

Hi Willi,

We get asked this *all* the time. The problem with it is the time that it takes to manually pick the underfill out of the chip and the risk of damage to one of the many pads under the chip.

I have recently asked some of the other good US microsolderers if they have any interest in offering U2 replacement. The answer was pretty much "!&&* no" There are a few that have done it before in the US.

I am trying to work out a plan to team up with some folks that have some seriously specialized equipment for this. Feel free to send me your phone if you want to be one of the test cases if it is truly a paperweight. The likelihood of an R&D repair being successful is probably low.

Thanks Jessa! That would be awesome!! Sorry I did not respond sooner. If you are still planning to do this, I can send it to you. I am sure the dresser drawer will not miss it.
