iPod's screen is white?

I accidently hit my iPod Nano, and BAAAMMM it stops working. The screen is white, if 'on'. It only closes. I can't access it's contents.

Many websies suggest resetting it, but I don't want to.

Are there any other ways of helping my iPod without losing it's contents?

Note: When I connect it to a laptop, the screen just stay white, and doesn't turn off.
