How do I fix a usb port that doesn't charge the tablet?

My girlfriend was charging her Xperia z tablet and it fell down with the USB cable still attached. Now the tablet wont charge. I am sure it would still charge with the cradle charger but Sony doesn't sell it anymore. Any ideas?

Answer this question I have this problem too

You can order a new USB part from www.parts4repair.com. I just did and its easy to replace but you have to take the back off. This obviously invalidates the warranty and the water resistance but will allow you to charge it.

If you are OK with this then all you need is a small crosshead screwdriver and about an hour. You will also need a way of resticking the back on (it may still be tacky enough but a bit of household glue would do the trick).

Step 1) check whether any damages of logic board around micro USB interface

Step 2) Re-solder it if there is no sign of physical damages in the connector

Step 3) Change it

hi there,

the longest is to get the spare part :-)

i ordered it from the mentionned website (parts4repair) and i received it from Singapore to France in 9 days.

open the back panel : 3 min

unscrew the 3 screws... about 1 min if you're slow and admire at how it is all nicely done!

remove the faulty part... about 30 sec... be cautious!

replace with new : arghh does not fit correstly ! about 1/2 milimetre wrong. so I cut the plastic on the tablet hence the new part fits tightly.

make sure your fix the connector, just pressing on.

re-screw, re-place...

try ! (was ok for me)
