Replacing the HD. Should I also replace the HD cable?

I successfully replaced the battery in my MBA. Then the HD failed a few months later. I feel confident I can replace the HD, but I'm wondering if I should also replace the HD cable at the same time? Or, not bother because it's probably just fine? I'm new at all of this, but I'm determined to learn. Thanks!

Options

If the cable was okay before you tried to change the HDD this means that you don't have to change the cable. If I were you I would try to change the HDD and if that doesn't work I would change the cable too.
