Brass or copper heat sink?

I just got a second hand fan for my MacBook to replace the old one that was sometimes really noisy and would have failed pretty soon. The guy who sold it to me also added the heat sink, and now I discovered that the old heat sink in my MacBook is brass, while the one I got is copper. My question now is whether the copper one might work more efficiently and if it is worth replacing it? Why did Apple choose to use both brass and copper heat sinks?

I'm very curious about this, thanks for any reply!

Answer this question I have this problem too

Copper is more expensive as it has much higher thermal conductivity.

Apple probably wanted to use less copper in their products to be more cost effective.

Most of the time they vary between Copper and Brass (or Aluminum) because it is only used for what creates a lot of heat (things like the processor).

If you're doing work that takes a lot of wattage then Copper is a necessity for the efficiency of your computer, but usually it's fine with Brass.

The guy that sold it to you did you a favor, I'd advise keeping it.
