power button is no longer responsive

my ps3 no longer turns off or on using the button at the front , eject side works to slide the tray but not the side u press for power , i know i can use the pad and removing power lead for on/off but need to know what the fix is, do i need open it and rough cost to do thanks

try replacing the ribbon connecting the power button to the motherboard
