Does Replacing the Motherboard Re-Format Your Hard Drive?

My PS3 has yellow lighted 3 times now (80GB Fat, PS2 Compatible). I've bought a PS3 Slim, and I want to transfer my save data from my current hard drive to the new system. I was only able to back up a few games to the cloud prior to my system going down the final time. If I replace the motherboard in the original PS3 Fat, would the new motherboard attempt to re-format the hard drive, causing me to lose all the data currently on there? Or am I just SOL on getting the data off of that hard drive?

Just put the old hard drive in the new ps3. If it doesn't work which it should, ask a friend to help you transfer data from the PS3's. Here's how!
