Recover lost text messages on iPhone 6

The upgrade process was failed when I was trying to update my iPhone 6 Plus to iOS 8.1 early this morning. I had to manually download the image and install it on my iPhone via iTools. I can restore content stored on iCloud backup, such as photos and notes, but I couldn't get back my text messages and voice memos, which are important for me. How to recover my lost messages? Cn any recovery app do the job for me? I am curious about that.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

As mentioned by Tom Chai your text messages are also a part of iCloud backup. So you should check your iCloud backup again.

Three days back, I also lost few important text messages while jail-breaking my device. I found this guide on Google search http://www.easyphonerecovery.com/how-to-... and it helped me recover my text messages to some extent. It's not a free tool/app and as a matter of fact all the iPhone data recovery products are !&&* lota expensive.

Generally, iCloud also backs up text messages and voice memos. I’m not sure why you cannot restore the text messages and voice memos using the iCloud backup files.

If the lost data haven’t been backed up, you can still recover the deleted files by scanning the iPhone directly using the third-party iPhone data recovery utility:

The technology has come a certain way, there is now an app approved by apple on the App Store that restores deleted data back to your iPhone

When you delete data from an iPhone, the deleted data still remains on the iPhone's database and can be recovered by various types of smartphone recovery software.

It is recommended that when you delete items from an iPhone by mistake, or if an iOS update deletes your data, that you stop using your iPhone until you recover the deleted data. This way you will lessen the chances of you overwriting the deleted data by creating new content on your phone.

Smartphone data recovery software is out there, you just need to do a quick search, read reviews, check prices and make a choice.

Good Luck :-)

Have you created an iTunes or iCloud backup before? Restore the backup if you have one. You can also recover deleted messages from iPhone with an iPhone Data Recovery directly without backup. The program also allows you to extract SMS from an iTunes backup without restoring the whole backup on your iPhone.

Those contents are included in iCloud backups, but if you didn't choose to back up those data, it's literally impossible to recover them. All data stored in the iphone is encrypted and during recovery process the encryption key is destroyed to instantly destroy all data, preventing any potential personal data leaks.

Best bet is to just restore your phone from a backup as Meg St. Clair suggested. You can also just Google some third-party recovery tools and see if you have any luck with them. Decipher Text Message has a recovery feature as do other programs that I've used the past for data recovery. It can be hit or miss as to how much lost info you can recover.

I learn this way to retrieve deleted text messages on iPhone on pcadvisor.co.uk.

1. Connect your iPhone to the PC with which you sync it. iTunes should open (if not, open it manually).

2. You should see your iPhone in a box, top righthand corner. Select it.

3. Now choose 'Restore backup'.

4. All the data you previously backed up will now replace the data on your phone. It will take a few minutes. As long as you haven't backed up subsequent to deleting those text messages, they should now appear on your phone handset.

Hey,

Actually you have 3 ways to recover your lost sms from your iphone 6.

iTunes backup file, iCloud backup file and recover from your iOS device directly.

For first two ways, you need to have the backup file from iTunes or iCloud. If you do not have the backup file, the only way to recover lost text messages from iPhone is to recover from the device. iPhone Data recovery software may help you to do that. All the software you can find online claim that they can recover your delete/lost sms from your iPhone. However, not all of them work like they said on their website. I have tried some of the recovery software online and find this guide, I think it is the best one for now.

You can recover lost text messages on iPhone 6 by following 3 ways.

1. Restore the deleted SMS from iCloud if you have done some backups before.

2. Extract everything from an iTunes Backup if you have synced text messages to iTunes before.

For above methods, you can follow the official tutorial for more details:
