Memory IS NOT ON THE HARD DRIVE - that's storage space. Memory is RAM. If you've identified your machine correctly you can get HD almost anywhere as long as it matches your machine requirements laptop size (Serial ATA (1.5 Gb/s). -HOWEVER Those older slower drives may be hard to find. You can not put a 3 or 6 Gb/s drive in it.

The most RAM you can put in the box is 2 GB (2x1GB chips) the last OS it can run is X 10.6.8* Though personally I would stick with 10.5.8.

This system can run the last version of Mac OS X 10.6 "Snow Leopard". However, it cannot boot in 64-bit mode nor does it support "OpenCL". It cannot run versions of Mac OS X more recent than 10.6.8.

HOW MUCH RAM IS CURRENTLY IN YOUR MACHINE?"' Re read my Answer. ''If you are short of storage (HD) space'' you do not need RAM. Apple would not say "memory on the HD" that's not where Memory is found. If Apple said you need MEMORY you need RAM 2X1GB chips are all you can use. If Apple said you need xx on the HD you need a larger HD - WHAT IS THE SIZE of your CURRENT HD, how much of it is empty (%)?
