Battery won't charge, boots when plugged in.

Hi all,

I replaced the battery on my A1342 with an exact replacement based off of the model number. Now my mac says it has 5% battery and the green light is solid on the AC charger.

Under system report, it shows cycle count as '0' (brand new battery) but states the condition is "replace now".

I thought thats what I did. Is there a system glitch or a reset that I need to do for my mac's logic board to properly recognize the new battery and charge properly?

I am getting all of my files off of this machine and moving to a macbook air, but I'd like it to be ready to go for the next user.

Thanks in advance

I would start by resetting the SMC. Follow this Apple TN: Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)

Let us know how it goes.
