This part of the MBP isn't connected to anything. What is it?

The top-right connector, if you look under the logic board, it's just a tiny chip. Could it be a temperature reader?

Reason why I'm asking, is because I broke the connector and went the redneck method of supergluing the connector back down, after aligning the little chip.

Yes, that connector is for the heat sensor. Your laptop will run without that part plugged in, but the fans may be running to the max all the time.
