I just got a Gameboy advanced and it wont turn on Ive put new batteries and it still doesn't work please help me

Did it work before? did anything happen to it? did you clean the battery contacts? what else have you tried?

I had gotten it from a friend who said it worked once before I try almost every possible thing out there that I had seen online and still no positive results so is there anything that you or any one else might know that will help remedy my situation
