Why is my (new) battery overheating?

Hi there,

I just bought a new battery for my Macbook Pro 13" (Mid 2012) here on ifixit. I installed it following the guide. I was told that, obviously, as my old battery was gone and I could only use my Macbook when attached to power, that a new battery would mean less overheating. The fact is after I replaced my old battery with the new one the battery overheating has remarquably increased instead of decreasing. It gets even worser when I plug in the charger.

I don't think that is healthy for my Macbook. Moreover I don't think it's normal as the overheating starts even when running one or two basic applications.

So my question is: could it be that the purchased battery is somehow defective?

Thanks for your support :)

I would start by getting a good fan & thermal sensor monitoring app like Temperature Gauge Pro. There are others out there I find this one quite good.

After installing it can you take a snapshot of the screen so we can see what the sensors are telling us. Don't forget we want to see it when it's running hot. Post the image using the blue icon on the right side on the editing ribbon in a fresh answer.

In addition you may want to look at Activity Monitor which is in your utility folder to see what the applications are doing from a CPU resource point of view. Is there any apps consuming too much CPU time?
