Can not swipe when Kindle is on.

I can't swipe to get around the kindle. I tried using a pointer and that didn't work either. I'.ve charged it, held down start button and repeated, Still can't swipe. Any suggestions? Or can someone suggest a place where it can be fixed.....

Either the digitizer has gone bad or the motherboard has gone bad.
