I have an Acer Chromebook CB5-311 16GB version and I was wondering if it's possible to replace the original SSD with a higher capacity one - also which type would fit?

Yes It is possible to replace your SSD with a higher capacity one. To my understanding, replacing your SSD with a higher capacity one is possible as long as the voltage ratings are suitable. Try some brands like Samsung or crucial !

All SSDs are the same physical size. The process is: you have to clone what is on your small capacity drive onto your new higher capacity drive. The higher capacity drive will accept the results of the cloning. Since the cloned drive will be an exact copy of your smaller capacity drive you will now have empty space left over. Your system can't use this until you link the empty space with the allocated part of the drive.
