Digitizer not working after replacement (some is)

I replaced a digitizer with a cracked glass mainly in the top left (next to camera). Everything seemed to go well. Removed the old digitizer, then the lcd (being careful). Once i got it back together the new digitizer looking at it with the home button closest to you and the camera on top... well the top from left to right about one inch down will not work from touching it. Which making the top most icons inaccessible to touch.

faulty digitizer screen maybe?

Is there ways around this?

Thanks.

Bill

I had the same problem (bad digitizer but no broken glass) - it did not fix the original issue - the touch keypad works intermittently. I used an IFIXIT kit - they sent the wrong color (black instead of white -used it anyway) and their replacement home button does not work at all - had to throw out everything and go back to the mess I had to start with - I won't do business with IFIXIT again.

Bill Thistle, sounds like a bad digitizer. Sorry, no work around on that. As always double check your work, check the cables as well as make sure that the connector is seated properly and no bend pins exist. If everything checks out okay, contact your vendor and get a new digitizer. Hope this helps, good luck.

Actually I had the same problem and tried 2x compatible ones - only 'cracked and taped up' original works!

LCD too - Apple firmware must have been updated with IOS 8.02 to stop you using pattern spares!

I just did the same model, with digitizer from iFixit, and the bottom 1/4 of the screen is unresponsive. I spent extra time making sure everything went perfectly for this customer, and the part let me down. It is running the latest version of iOS, and I know that was a cause of some iPhone's having issues after a new digitizer and/or home button were replaced. I would think the whole digitizer would not work if that was the cause.

I'm going to make a claim with iFixit and see how that goes.

Problem is you can't replace the digitizer screen. I have tried 4 times now with screens from different vendors. the best I got was a temporary working iPad that soon turned into the ghosting mess we keep reading about online. Lots of wrong/bad info all over youtube from people who don't know anything. I think Apple has something in the code to prevent third party screen replacements.

Maybe ifixit could be honest about what's going on and chime in?
