Replacement DVD drive will not read discs.
A few weeks ago my Wii began sporadically ejecting disks. After doing some research I figured it was the DVD drive going out, so I ordered a replacement drive.
Once it arrived I followed the guide and installed the new drive, and gave it a try only to get an error "unable to read disc." So again I researched and found some people had success after updating the firmware and/or flashing the memory, so I did both and still no luck.
I then called iFixit for support thinking I did something wrong, and was told it may be a defective drive so they sent me another replacement. I have installed the second replacement, and it is also giving me the same error.
So, thinking maybe it wasn't the drives, maybe there was a problem with the transfer cable, I resorted to re-installing the original DVD drive. It still makes terrible noises and occasionally will spit the disc back out, but it does read the disks when they are in the drive.
I am currently baffled... I don't know what is wrong with the original drive, and I can not get a replacement drive to work. Please HELP!!!
Is this a good question?
Does it do this with all disks or just one?

A wii only cost $30 if you dig deep enough. I hate to break it to you but there's not many options for you at this point.
