spilled some tea - won't start. will it start with dvd-drive removed?

Subj!

Spilled a small amount of strong black tea (sugar-free) tonight - didn't even thought of powering it down (seemed to be just few drops) - but the laptop did it itself ten seconds later.

Immediatelly after that, I removed the battery, opened the topcase. There was a teadrop on the memory sticker. there was some moisture underneath the dvd-drive. there was a drop of liquid in the dvd-drive connector, and near the empty connector to the left from the dvd-drive connector. I didn't remove the logic board, just used a hairdryer (bad of me, I know), and tried powering it on. I could see the fan spinning on for a bit of a second, and that's it.

I'll try booting it up tomorrow morning (in 10 hours?). I'll try booting it up without the memory boards. But still, I am not that optimistic.

I didn't connect it to the mains power, just the battery.

Do I still have to remove the main board to give it a bath in isopropyl alcohol?

Should it be starting without the upper case (if I just shorten those two very special pads?)

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Most likely too little TOO LATE - SLOW DOWN. Dry that sucker for 72hrs in a desiccant. You may get lucky after and not have logic board damage. Only you and your eyeballs can tell that (look for corrosion, burn marks on the board, swollen components).

If you pull the board you may as well give a good cleaning (sounds like you have read the repair liquid damage Answers). After drying, examination, cleaning, more drying and and reassembly

If this answer is acceptable please remember to return and mark it.

will it start up without the dvd drive? (i removed it - anyway it didn't work for the last several years)

do I have to give it a bath in alcohol? (i checked, it's not that hard to remove the logic board, and the pH of strong black tea is somewhat 4 or even lower, which is quite acid, and I am afraid it could lead to premature rust)

will try starting it up tomorrow morning.

Don't keep booting that questionable logic board - you'll damage it (if you haven't already).
