JVC TH-A25 DVD DIGITAL THEATER SYSTEM disc tray doesn't open

Hello,

my DVD-player does not open the tray anymore.

-when i push the open button, the screen shows the open command. (so it is not the security lock for children).

I think the problem might be the belt around the tray motor.

- I opened the casing and accessed DVD mechanism.

But now I don't find how to get to the motor. It is as if the tray is locked (something between a gear?) and inhibiting me from accessing the motor.

I looked for a solution in the manual, but i does not give the necessary information.

Any ideas?

I will add a picture next hour..

UPDATE:

I got to the motor out. the motor is working as it should, I put 5V and -5V on it, and in both directions.

The problem is, that it does not get any voltage when the tray should open.

Is this a problem with an electronic component?

UPDATE 2:

No one an idea how to find the reason why the motor doesn't get -5V when it should open?

If not I thought maybe I can 'solve' the problem by adding an additional button that puts -5V on the motor on conditions (button pushed AND not already open)

So, easy circuit with button and the opened/closed sensor in series.

Then my question becomes: Where do I find 5V?

I suppose there is a voltage regulator in the dvd player, any ideas how to locate it easily?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Ok so here is the thing, I have never touched that particular device. I have however encountered that issue on Xbox's and other what not. My guess is that the track system on the underside of the try has somehow been misaligned. The bad part is that there is no, shall we say, "safe way" to realign the tray. If it is built like the others the only way to get it out is to muscle it out and then slide it back in along the correct path. Not going to lie that thing looks just like an Xbox disk tray in it's construction. If it is similar the underside has a channel that guides it in and out. The piece that sits inside the channel somehow got out of it and is now bumping into another piece of plastic preventing it from opening the whole way.

Sorry I don't have a better suggestion. This is a do at your own risk kind of thing.

Okay, thanks for the answer krisfuqua!

I re-aligned the tray. everything is working fine when opening and closing it manually.

Now another part of the problem becomes clear:

when I manually open the tray, the player can close it when i ask it to.

But when it is closed, the player cannot open it.

Because the mechanism if working fine, I assume it is the motor that refuses to turn in one direction (opening the tray) but does turn in the other direction (closing the tray)..

is the motor broke?

of is it a problem with the electronics?

.. ?

thanks
