Why has the printer speed suddenly slowed down?

I tried to connect to the printer with my iphone but the bluetooth from neither device found each other. I then used my Macbook Pro via bluetooth and was successfully able to print however the print speed has now slowed down to a painful crawl for everything printed. How do I fix this?
