What is causing flicker when screen is angled?

I am trying to diagnose/fix my rommate's issue. She has a 2008 aluminum unibody MacBook. When she moves the screen to a different angle, it flickers.

I believe there is a loose/faulty connection, but I don't know how to tell for sure.

Thanks for any help.

Yes it is a short

in the display data cable or the video cable. The cables run through the hinges and can be crimped or damaged. If still under warranty take it to a Genius bar, if not you (or someone for you) can use the guides here to see if parts need to be replaced or connections reseated.
