What will replacing the whole "Display Assembly" do?

So recently I dropped my dear Moto X, that I've only had for almost a month, in the toilet... :( (This phone is so slippery with out a case on. It is kind of ridiculous). So after being hopeful that the water repellent stuff on the in sides prevailed and putting it in rice for 48 hours, I plugged it into a charger. It would no turn on and that's why. I am assuming it died while I was asleep as when I woke up and went to the restroom is when I dropped it.

So magically! It worked! Charging port seems to be working fine along with the battery. 2 hours past. Not completely charged but I took it off to examine. Held power button. Turned on fine. No discoloration in the pixels, no dead pixels. But after it turned on. The big thing is that non of the touchscreen it's self works! At all. No even a certain section of the screen or anything of that sort. So knowing it's accessories as a phone I preceded to test if everything else got out of the accident unscathed. Using "Okay Google", another smart phone, and a Roku box, I have come to find that every single other thing inside the phone works! All the microphones, the speaker, Rear facing camera, front facing camera, NFC (In and out), Whole antenna assembly (Wifi, 4g, 3g, calling, texting), Volume rocker, Power button (though is bugging out and keeps pressing/activating by its self. Will need to be replaced), Flashlight (can't actually be sure yet), Vibration thingy. Yeah. Everything. So this question is. If it is just the display not working, what can I do? Will buying a new display assembly and having a pro instal it work? Or what are my options? I know I cannot "repair" the existing display as liquid damage is non repair able sooooooo? Please anyone. Give a noob you knowledge! Thanks!

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Christian Duplantier, should have saved yourself this step "the water repellent stuff on the in sides prevailed and putting it in rice for 48 hours" it is pretty much equivalent to doing nothing. Anyhow, yes it is possible that your digitizer has shorted out. It is also possible that your touchscreen IC has shorted out or is corroded (check the connectors as well). Unless you take a look at it, clean it appropriately with isopropyl alcohol and a soft brush a few times, its all just a guess. Water damage is the hardest to diagnose and the most difficult to repair since you can never be sure which part may have failed. Again proceed with cleaning first, then the display assembly than the logic board. Hope this helps, good luck

Guides on how to do this cleaning please? And as obvious as it sounds. How can I get the phone off. Sure. I hold the power and volume down for 10 seconds or so. But since the power button is being buggy all it does is turn right back on! Help? And if the display assembley/logic board/Ic is shorted/broke. How can I/Can I replace/repair those parts? Thanks again!

Check these guides Motorola Moto X to work on your Moto. In your case, you may have to work on it while it is On until you get to remove the battery. Use this guide for the cleaning. It was written for an iPhone 3G but all the points are still pertinent to your phone as well. To repair or repalce the IC will require special tools and special skills. It is a BGA IC that may need to be reballed, or at least one could try a reflow.

Explain "Reball" the IC. And how expensive will it be to replace the IC completely? And would I clean any corrosion that has takin place in the phone? I have seriously never done anything like this before and am very scared of permanently damaging my phone!

O! And one good thing. I was able to get the phone off only after typing my second response last night so yay! I'll maybe start working on it soon.
