iPhone 5 won't charge but syncs normally?

My iPhone 5 just wont charge no matter what charger or computer I use. But it syncs normally. Battery is fine, tried in a different phone.

What might be the problem?

UPDATE: I have switched the charging dock from a phone that works and the situation is the same: syncing to iTunes fine, lightning icon next to battery but no charging.

Is it logic board? Can I just replace the part or the whole board. Please help!

The iPhone 5 has an Achilles heel---its charging logic chip, the U2 chip, is easily damaged just by using non-Apple chargers, especially car chargers. The chip itself on the logic board must be replaced. This particular chip is extremely difficult to replace since it shares a border with the CPU. I don't know that anyone in the US advertises that they replace this chip, and having just returned from the wireless repair expo, I'm working with some experts in the field of bga chip replacement to be able to begin offering this repair soon.

First though---CHECK to see if your phone happens to qualify for the iPhone 5 Apple warranty replacement for battery---they *might* replace the phone if it does, I don't know.

My iPhone IS eligible for battery replacement. But that will not solve the charging problem? Also I am concerned that they will refuse the service because the phone has being opened? Or not. What do you think...?

They may refuse service because the phone was opened--they will be able to tell because the battery is not longer sealed to the frame with by Apple's monster adhesive. And no, a new battery will not solve the problem. However, this IS a defect in Apple's engineering, and could very well be due to the fact that your phone had a defective battery to begin with and therefore was more susceptible to U2 failure. If it were me, I'd probably give it a shot and just be very honest with them and see what happens.

There is a chip called the U2 if that falls then it will have this affect email
